Lost Colony North Carolina By: Sheldon Wells

Description of Enigma The English came to Roanoke to make the first English colony in the Thirteen Colonies.

Theory or Cause Historians wonder about how the colony became lost because of no proof.

Who and When the Enigma was Discovered by Discovered by: The English settlers that came in –How Long we have known about the Enigma: We have known about the enigma for 428 years.

Scientific Findings A terrible drought came when the English arrived. There was more than one colony.

Scientist Viewpoints Some scientist say that since their colony had been almost gone because of the drought. Most of the remaining colony lived with the Roanokes (Native Americans).

Dilemmas or Controversies The scientists don’t agree on the reason the settlers vanished. Some scientists say that The remaining English went to live with the Roanoke. Others say that they starved due to the drought.

Understanding the Enigma Over Time The scientists look at tree rings and have better technology to find remains of the colony.

5 Interesting Facts There were two colonies. When the settlers got there they were met by a 3 year drought. The settlers were met by peaceful Native Americans. When Jamestown settlers came another drought came. The settlement had no trace of raiding.

My Theory I think when the settlers had nowhere to go so they went into the woods to find a way to survive, and the Native Americans ambushed them.
