Presentation transcript:

What is faith?

 “ Believing but not seeing.”  Faith is a gift from God. Faith helps us to see our lives and the world as God sees them.

 Take place of reason, personal experience, human searching or learning from others.

 By reasoning, thinking, and generating ideas.  By reflecting on their own experiences  By reaching out and exploring beyond everyday knowledge  By listening to those with whom they live and work.  Which option appeals to you?

 Work through our human abilities and is supported by our logical reasoning.

 God making himself known to us. WE BELIEVE….. There is one God. Catholics are monotheistic. God created nature. God is loving and caring God is active in our lives God wants a relationship with us.

 Played a HUGE role in the creation of the Bible.  Written by people, INSPIRED by God.

 Catholics read the Bible: CONTEXTUALLY  This means, we read searching for religious truth, but take in to account that the time period, geographical area, oral tradition and inspired writers all have a significant effect on Scripture.  ( Your CONTEXT CLUE, IS CONTEXT!)  To read FUNDAMENTALLY is to take the Bible LITERALLY. Catholics do not read scripture from a fundamentalist perspective.
