Presentation transcript:

My house has eleven rooms. The bathroom, toilet, laundry and ensuite are located on the western side. On the southern side is the master bedroom, bedroom 2 and bedroom 3 (part of ensuite is on the southern side too). The dining room, the living room and the kitchen are located on the eastern side of the house. On the northern side is the family room (part of kitchen is also on the northern side).

On the northern side of my house, I have two large windows. The western side of my house I also have two windows but they are small. I have one medium sized window on the south. The eastern side has two windows, but they are small. All my windows are glazed for the appropriate temperature.

In my house, I use passive solar heating and underground heating. The solar energy is stored in big batteries, which is kept in the garage on the western side. For my cooling, I have fans on the ceiling. They are all rated five stars. The reason it is only five stars is because six stars would be too expensive. On the western side, I have put adjustable louvres so I can change how hot and how cold the west side can become. On the eastern side I have put a deciduous tree, so it’s warm in the Winter and cooler in the Summer.

All the water I use in my house is rainwater, that I collect and store in tanks. Before the water is stored in the tank, I filter all the dirt out of the rainwater.

For the electricity at my house, I use generated wind power which is stored in batteries in my shed. I also have solar panels on my roof just in case. The solar panels are located on the northern side because, the sun shines on the northern side all day.

My house is fully insulated with both manmade and natural insulating materials. The insulation that I have used is: pink batt, sheep’s wool and straw bale.

For my building materials, I have used: rammed earth, mud brick, stone and straw bale to build the house. Sheep’s wool and pink batt for the insulation of the house.

The waste recycling and rubbish that I produce at my house, I turn it into little barriers and put the green waste inside the barriers just to make things look a little pretty. Of course I put the barriers and green waste in the garden. This way I can help the environment by not putting so much waste in the rubbish, recycling and green waste bins. I also feed the food scraps to the worm farm.
