Portal Defined The Portal will be a secure, online gateway for the UAB community where dynamic communication, learning, networking and university business can thrive. a.k.a. Intranet

Internet vs. Intranet Internet Facilitates communication with unknown group Maintains a variety of public pathways Goal to increase time on site to facilitate appointment Intranet Facilitates communication with controlled set Carried over internal networks in controlled infrastructure Goal to decrease time to improve productivity

Portal Potential Chosen point of entry Targeted Information Secure, consistent, and customizable Convenient, user-oriented Integrated Anytime Anywhere

You and the Portal Portal content Ownership Management Maintenance Policy Portal design Portal look and feel Branding Training Support The Functional Subcommittee’s role is to research issues and solutions covering:

Implementation Project Manager.5-1 FTE over duration of implementation Technical Lead FTE over duration of implementation Functional Lead FTE over duration of implementation (often add-on or “volunteer” work) Cross-functional Project Team ½-2 day commitments plus follow-up assignments over duration of implementation (total approximately days) System Administrator.5-1 FTE long-term Training Coordinator 1FTE during pre-launch training period (including development time). Trainers Depends on size of institution, rollout pace, and training model (e.g., cascade vs. flat)
