Presentation transcript:

Haley: Slide 3 – Hello, my name is James Stephenson and I fought in D-day on June 6, John: Slide 3 – I am 22 years old and I have just graduated from The University of San Antonio with my bachelor’s degree and I was considering my master’s.

Destinee: Slide 4- I live in San Antonio, Texas with my beautiful wife named Mary and my 2 month old daughter named Joyce. Haley: Slide 4 – I was also considering joining the army, but soon after I was drafted.

John: Slide 5- I was drafted to Normandy, France with thousands of men. Destinee: Slide 5- But first I was sent to England were I met people and later became real close as friends.

Haley: Slide 6- After a month in England we were all crammed into huge battleships. John: Slide 6- These ships took us a couple of miles out from the beaches of Normandy.

Destinee: Slide 7- Then we were deployed into flat bottom boats, which were designed by Andrew Higgins. Haley: Slide 8- These boats then took us to the Omaha Beach where the invasion was taking place.

John: Slide 9- The battle was intense and we lost over 2000 men. Some men even died before they left the boat. Destinee: Slide 10- Even with all the casualties we managed to move forward. And eventually we broke through German defenses and started storming Europe to take it back.

Slide 11- POCAST

Haley: Slide 12 – I realized that being in the war is different from being a civilian watching the war. John: Slide 13 – Being in the war means fighting with the knowledge that you probably will loose your life, while being a civilian, such as in Hiroshima, you don’t know what the war is going to bring to you.

Destinee: Slide 14 – Both of us may have lived in fear for a time, but I went to war knowing that I probably am going to die. John: Slide 15 – Our Hiroshima friend did not know whether he was going to die or if he was safe.
