She is completely heartbroken and depressed. Jen tries to pinpoint where her and Max went wrong and all his faults. On a visit to her grandmothers, she receives Dr. Emerson’s “The Breakup Bible.” Jen doesn’t think Max is at fault for the breakup even though he was the one who said they should just be friends. Still thinking that Max may one day realize that he made a big mistake on breakup with her, all the while Max sends Jen mixed signals during their journalism class. What things do romance readers want to read about? “I read all of Beverley's Malloren family series last year, and they're all pretty good. Definitely above most romance novels. Actually this entry is making me want to reread the first book, and I never really reread romances.” Call me crazy, but the idea of the hero in women's clothing and makeup was a total turnoff. And the fact that he appeared to enjoy it so much only worsened it for me. Add that to the author describing him as femininely beautiful and I had a nasty picture in my head that I couldn't get rid of.

What are the themes in romance novels that makes females so interested in reading them? Contemporary romance, Fantasy romance, Futuristic romance, Historical romance, Paranormal romance, Regency romance, Romantic suspense, Time travel romance, Western romance ("Romance Book Subgenre Definitions Best Romance Stories" ). Romance fans read romance for the 'feel good' factor. After such intense conflict, trying to establish and maintain the relationship, readers want to see the good guys come together at last in a 'happy ending‘ (“Romance books Subgenre Definitions Best Romance Stories”). the central plot and a large portion of the conflict are focused on two people falling in love and then struggling to maintain and justify that love (“Romance books Subgenre Definitions Best Romance Stories”).
