FEMALE SEXUALITY RESEARCH: THE ROAD IS BUMPY PROF IHAB YOUNIS

Women are dominating

70% of UK medical students are females

Harvard medical school graduation day, May % of medical graduates in USA are females

Egyptian Doctors by Gender (2006) 70.5% 29.5%

Benha Faculty of Medicine Students Gender Ratio % 40%

Male : Female ratio in postgraduate students was 1: 16 !!!

So, we had 2 choices

# 1 : Leave Andrology research altogether

# 2: Resort to female sexuality research

I chose the second choice but the road was bumpy

WHY ?

I-PROBLEMS RELATED TO PHYSIOLOGY We do not know what is normal and what is not

II-Problems related to subjects’ nature 1- The vast emotional effect

2-The great variations related to socioeconomic standards 2-

4-The feminine nature of keeping sexual affairs secret

The general tendency of women to under- report premarital sexual experiences

III-Problems in structuring questionnaire

1-Biased sampling

2-Volunteers

3-Inability to understand some terms
