Tuskegee Institute Booker T. Washington founded the Tuskegee Institute On July 4 th, 1881.

Up From Slavery: An Autobiography The book he wrote is his life story of how he worked with the system to over come the obstacles with out pointing fingers at anybody that its their fault. He pulled himself up and proved to people that it was possible to over come racism. Still used at the institution as a class room book.
