Definitely 5 AS Media Project By Jonny Brooks, Sam Walton, Huw Martin, James Fitzpatrick

Audience research For audience research we produced a questionnaire (see ire.html) ire.html We surveyed 20 students around around the college as SCC offers courses from A-Levels at 16 to adult learning.

Audience research We selected a larger sample size of males because we planned to target the news show at the male audience.

Audience research Males wanted: 80% of males surveyed said they wanted entertainment. 40% also said they wanted sport content. 60% of males said they listened to radio in the evening although 50% also listened to morning radio news.

textual analysis For our textual analysis we analysed both commercial and public radio broadcast in the morning and evening from stations such as: BBC Radio 1 BBC Radio 2 Signal 1

textual analysis Radio news shows include more than one presenter, one for news and one for sport/weather respectively. Order usually follows: International news w/ vox pops National news Local news Sport/Weather/Travel

Textual analysis From our textual analysis we found differences between morning and evening news content, for example: Morning concerns itself with reporting travel news. Evening concerns itself with sport news.

Textual analysis Contrasts between commercial & public radio include: More sensational stories with perceived presenter bias on commercial radio.

TARGET AUDIENCE We plan to target the show at the male audience. We want to produce the show for a commercial radio audience since more of our interviewees said they listened to commercial radio overall.

Show contents Based on our textual analysis of commercial stations, we plan to cover the following during our radio news show: National/International News Entertainment news Local News Sports Weather for tomorrow

Jingles
