Controlled Assessment Task : Advocacy and Representation Pressure groups, charities and voluntary organisations are important. They provide many services and provide people with the opportunity to voice their opinions at local, national or international levels Choose one group or organisation to investigate and promote.

Controlled Assessment Select a voluntary organisation, charity or pressure group Investigate their work – What do they do? – What issues are they concerned with? – How do they work? – Draw conclusions about your research

Pressure Groups Over 7000 pressure groups in the UK representing every possible interest. They put pressure on the government, media or the public to try and get them to support their cause

Political Protest

Democracy: Freedom of Speech

Voluntary Groups/Charities Seek to help others, raise awareness and money for their particular cause

Helping those who can’t help themselves.

Controlled Assessment Take action to advocate the aims of the volunteer organisation, charity or pressure group – Present your case to a group (any class but this one, including primary school) – Find out if you presentation has changed views, opinions, intentions and attitudes (questionnaire) – Assess, reflect and evaluate the effectiveness of your work

Controlled Assessment Candidates should be encouraged to follow a particular interest to work individually or in a small group during the research, planning and action stages. Writing up must be done individually.
