FILTERING AIR © Commonwealth of Australia 2010 | Licensed under AEShareNet Share and Return licence

 Hello, I would like to talk to you about filtering air.  Air conditioning units are equipped with an air filtering system to clean the air of dust and other particle matter. This ensures that the air in the zone is clean to breathe but also ensures that the air entering the evaporator coil does not leave deposits of unwanted substances on the coil. An accumulation of matter on the coil will affect the air flow and heat transfer properties of the evaporator coil.  The air filter is normally located in the return air stream just before the cooling coil. © Commonwealth of Australia 2010 | Licensed under AEShareNet Share and Return licence

 This image shows the location of the air filter in a small room air conditioner. The filter is immediately behind the return air grille (air inlet) which hinges outwards to provide access for cleaning purposes. © Commonwealth of Australia 2010 | Licensed under AEShareNet Share and Return licence
