MAJOR SCALE PATTERNS There are two half steps in any major scale. They are located between scale degrees 3 and 4, and 7 and 8.
MARKING HALF STEPS Half-steps are marked with a wedge like this: ^ For example 3^4 indicates a half step between notes 3 and 4. F#^G is another example.
