 A Problem & A Solution  Accessing E-Referral  Completing E-Referral  Analyzing E-Referral  A Positive, Proactive Approach to School-Wide and Individual Behavior Management

 Problem – A massive amount of school-wide and individual behavior data that cannot be easily analyzed or utilized  Result – We collect referrals and deal with individual incidences, but can’t get an accurate big picture in order to have a greater impact  Solution – E-Referral system using Google Docs Form  Allows for individual incidences to be quickly and efficiently communicated and addressed  Provides a comprehensive analysis of school-wide behavior for making big picture changes

 Go to  The first link on the wiki takes you to the E- Referral form for  Bookmark the form

 Must be signed into Google Applications with Elanco.net account  Complete student and incident identifying information:  First Name, Last Name, Sex, Incident Date, Day of Week, Month, and Student Grade  Complete incident level (must match type)  + - Positive incident (to be discussed further)  0 – For documentation only  1 – Minor incident (from handbook)  2 – Major incident (from handbook)

 Complete incident type (must match level)  Drop-down menu provides description of categories of behavior  Select the behavior that best describes the behavior of incident  You will have an opportunity later to provide anecdotal details  Complete analysis of behavior  Incident location, time of day, perceived motivation for behavior, IEP status  Provide anecdotal description of incident for further clarification to administrator  Submit

 Search Google Docs (elanco.net) for “GSHS Behavior E-Referral”  This will bring up the spreadsheet with all data entered to date  In the Menu Bar, click on “Form” then “Show Summary of Responses”

 School-wide:  We can use the data to target problem areas, times of day, and days of week with increased supervision  Incident-type data will help us to develop targeted social skills and behavior instruction  Perceived motivation data will allow us to target interventions for students’ underlying needs

 Individual:  Notation of positive incidences and commendations helps staff to “catch students being good” and allows administrators opportunities to provide individual reinforcement, both tangible (rewards) and intangible (verbal praise)  To encourage use of E-Referral to record + incidences, each time a teacher enters a commendation, their name will be entered into a monthly raffle to receive rewards and recognition (TBD)
