WATER As we be have seen, the lack of water is the main problem in our region. Murcia hosts a lot of tourists every year and its industry and economy is growing amazingly. This development must be careful with the environment and particularly it must take care of water. We also have to mention agriculture, because water is its main resource. DEFORESTATION To solve this huge deforestation everyone have to help forest:  The government must made new laws that protect the forest.  Everyone who spend a day in the forest must clear up their waste.  Companies must try to develop taking care of trees and vegetation. POLLUTION To reduce the air pollution we have to take some measures:  Change old factories for other more respectful with the environment.  Try to reduce CO 2 emissions.  Create laws that bind to take those measures. COMENIUS PROJECT “YOU AND ME MAKE EUROPE” I.E.S. BOHÍO

POLLUTION COMENIUS PROJECT “YOU AND ME MAKE EUROPE” I.E.S. BOHÍO Murcia is a coast region, so we also had the problem of water pollution. The situation on our coast was terrible, but in the last years we are taking better care of our water, forbidding industrial waste dumping, for example. Old factories and houses used to dump their waste in the water without any treatment.

DROUGHT COMENIUS PROJECT “YOU AND ME MAKE EUROPE” I.E.S. BOHÍO When it rains, it often does in a torrential way, it rains a lot in a very short time, therefore we can’t make good use of it. It’s called “Cold drop”. Murcia is a region in the South of Spain, so rains are not frequent. There is hardly any rain.

MEASURES TAKEN IN MURCIA REAFFORESTATION COMENIUS PROJECT “YOU AND ME MAKE EUROPE” I.E.S. BOHÍO To solve that question, every year young trees are planted. There are many forest fires every year in Murcia, killing thousands of trees.

MEASURES TAKEN IN MURCIA BUILDING DESALINATION PLANTS Valdelentisco desalination plant:  This plant is the biggest desalination plant in Europe.  Nowadays it works at 40% and supplies people.  In the future this plant will be able to produce 70 Hm 3 every year. MEASURES TAKEN IN MURCIA NATURA 2000 COMENIUS PROJECT “YOU AND ME MAKE EUROPE” I.E.S. BOHÍO They take up more than hectares, above 29% Murcia’s area. 50 areas has been proposed in Murcia, 47 of them in land and 3 in the sea. Natura 2000 is a European network of biodiversity conservation areas.

3-R RULE EDUCEEUSEECYCLE Reducing the consume of water, electricity and other resources will help the environment. Reusing things instead of throwing them away will reduce the energy cost of producing new ones. If we recycle our waste a lot of natural resources won’t be exploited. BOHÍO CONCLUSION For a sustainable development the best thing we can do is to reduce consume and make and respect new laws that protect the environment.
