What’s your favourite planet in the solar system? What animals are there in your planet? Get a sheet of paper and draw it! What’s your favourite planet in the solar system? What animals are there in your planet? Get a sheet of paper and draw it!

Slide 2 | Introduce yourself and teach sts how to do the same. After all the sts have introduced themselves, play a memory game to help sts remember the names of everyone in the class. Point to a random st and ask “Who’s this?”. Slide 3 | Ask sts if we use English words in Portuguese. Elicit some examples. Tell sts that many words we use for food are the same ones as in English. Ask sts to work in pairs, trying to name the items. Click to show names and tell sts that many times the pronunciation of these items is different in the two languages. Drill pronunciation of items. Slide 4 | Teach sts I like / I don’t like. Move on to slide 5 and ask sts to work in pairs, saying which items of food they like/don’t like. Elicit from WG which item is the favourite of the class. Slide 6 | Tell sts that many animals in English are also similar to Portuguese. Click to teach the words and pronunciation. Ask sts how the words are different from Portuguese (spelling, pronunciation).

Slide 7 | Tell sts you’re going to play a game. They are going to see part of an animal and they have to guess which animal it is. Divide the class into two groups and use the photo on the screen as an example. Point to the image and ask “ Who am I?” (a gorilla). Slides 8-13 | Taking turns, each group is going to guess the animal on the screen. Click to check. Slide 15 | Ask sts if they know all the planets in the solar system (allow them to answer in Portuguese). Click to teach the planets in English. Drill pronunciation. Slide 16 | Ask sts if they know how to count to ten in English. Click to show how many planets there are in our solar system. Slides | Ask sts if they remember the names of the planets. This can also be played as a game. Click to reveal answers. Slide 23| Ask sts to work in small groups and design their own planets. Encourage sts to use the animals they learnt.
