Can People Who use Crystal Methamphetamines Function in Society?

G A high on crystal meth lasts times longer then a high you will get from cocaine.

Major Effects on Dopamine Levels

G Dopamine - A neurotransmitter that controls pleasure and is released each time you benefit from an achievement.

G When you are on meth your dopamine levels get raised and it burns out your neurons, making them less productive.

G A lab experiment done of animals showed that methamphetamines generate 1250 units of dopamine, sex only generates 200 units.

G After the first dose you use crystal you will feel the need to take more and more until you are too disoriented to continue or you run out.

G If you were on meth you will soon have to put all you time and money into getting and taking the drug. You would not be able to keep a job or act like a normal person in society.

G Pregnant woman who use meth will seriously effect there baby. When the child is born it will be known to act paranoid if touched, and they will have weakened motor skills.

G People on meth will only be thinking about getting their next high, and they will become a chronic user and will stay high for days at a time without nutrients or sleep, you will not be able to keep a job.

G When you stop taking methamphetamines you will suffer from moody behavior, and head aches, making it hard to concentrate on one task.

Conclusion G Overall, we find that a person using meth, be it chronically or acutely, cannot function in or about society.

Quitting Meth

G Dr. Nora Volkow said that when you quit meth your brain tissue can repair its self after time but chronic users will suffer permanent effects.

G When you quit using crystal meth, your dopamine levels get to be so low that it can lead to Parkinson's disease.

Conclusion G Former meth users might be able to keep a low end job and make a living, but will never be able to be really successful.
