The Inner Planets (Earth and Mars) By: Miguel, Vonne, and Andren

Inner Planets For our presentation we’ll be talking about Earth and Mars. The average distance from Mars to Earth is about kilometers. The distance of Earth from the sun is 149, 579, kilometers. (92, 955, miles)

Size of the Planets Earth- estimated size of the Earth- around over 40,000km in circumference, and over 500 million km Mars-size: 4,217 miles (6,786KM)

Earth Facts Our planet is an oasis. The Earth's temperature, weather, atmosphere and many other factors are just right to keep us alive. The earth has one moon, its name is Luna. Earth is married to Uranus.(greek mythology) Greek name- Gaea 30% of the earth is land, and 70% is ocean. Earth is the densest major body in the solar system.

Mars Facts Mars is the God of War and Agriculture. It is so called “The Red Planet” because of the iron oxide floating around the planet. When a close a view it is actually beige.iron oxide In Greek, Mars is the Greek God Ares. Mars has two moons, their names are Deimos, and Phobos. Evidence suggests the Mars had rivers, streams, lakes, and even Oceans. If you weigh 70 pounds, in Mars you’ll only weigh 27 pounds on earth.

Iron Oxide Any of various oxides of iron, such as ferric oxide or ferrous oxide.

Did you know? Mars has higher mountains, and deeper canyons than any other planet. The largest canyon on Mars would stretch from New York City to Los Angeles on the Earth. That makes the Grand Canyon look tiny. It also has the Solar System's biggest volcano, Mt. Olympus, which is nearly 3 times larger than Mount Everest.

Did you know? The Earth is the biggest of all the terrestrial planets.terrestrial planets

Terrestrial Planets A terrestrial planet is a dense planet found in the inner Solar System.

What is a robot Geologist? (The Mars Rover) The mars Exploration Rovers were designed to operate on Mars. Our neighboring planet is very different than Earth and so the rovers needed to be built very carefully. Here are some quick facts about the rovers and their mission. Info on Pictures slide.

Mars Rover Mission Reporters say that the mission of the Mars Rover was classified or secret. It was classified because if they found something that was living or bad that can damage earth they would not tell us until it was official.

Thank you We hope that you learned about the Inner Planets. Thank you for listening.
