Nazi Doctor of Auschwitz

 Dr. Josef Mengele  Born- March 16, 1911  Died  Volunteered to be transferred to Auschwitz after being wounded on the Russian front.

 Spent 21 months at Auschwitz  While he was there he performed experiments on the Jewish twins brought to the camp  Nicknamed “the Angel of Death”  He added to his reputation by added horrible policies including in one account where he drew a line on a wall in the children's block and sending any child who’s head is above the line to the gas chambers.

 Mengele sent hundreds of thousands of Jews to the gas chambers.  Men, women, children, babies.  One account shows the details of a gruesome act performed by Mengele.  A mother didn’t want to separate from her daughter so he sent the whole group he was inspecting to the gas chambers.

 Mengele became obsessed with twins in the camps.  Began doing experiments on every pair of twins he could find.  Including blood draining  Mengele once gathered 14 pairs of twins from the camp in the night.  He had them all place on tables in his lab as he put them to sleep and then injected chloroform into their hearts.

 He performed unspeakable experiments on the unaware twins he rounded up.  Including:  Injecting their eyes with chemicals to change their eye color.  Physical and psychological procedures.  Experimental surgeries without anesthesia.  Blood transfusions between twins  Isolation endurance  Stimuli reactions  Injections of lethal germs  Sex change operations  Removal of organs and limbs

 His experiments are chronicled in the book The Children of the Flames.  All of his approximate three thousands subjects  Secrecy of his experiments gave him the privilege of effectively performing the experiments

 Fled Auschwitz in 1945  Disguised himself as a regular German infantry soldier.  Left Germany in 1948

 After he ran from Germany to South America he lived for 35 years under many different aliases.  He eventually died in  He had a stroke while swimming in the ocean.
