Figure Skating For The First TIME!!!!!! BY: Hannah
I shall never forget the event that changed my life. I started figure skating when I was seven an a half at Eastdale Mall’s Ice Palace. I wanted to be with my friends while I was warming up and learning to skate. When it came to testing my skating skills I would be on my own.
The first event of figure skating is warming up. We stumbled onto the ice trying to stay balanced. The teachers came over and held our hands. I was a little nervous because I thought everyone would be better than me.
Afterwards we actually learned how to skate. All my friends and family encouraged me, which made me feel better about my skating. The coaches demonstrated the basic skating skills. We would play games to help us learn them.
Later we tested our skating skills. I was scared that I might have to repeat the level.( pre-alpha) We demonstrated for the coaches our new abilities we learned in that level. After I was done the coaches spent time with me talking about what I got wrong and how I could fix it. Even if it meant I had to repeat the level.
As you now notice figure skating is a very important skill to me. Warming up, learning how to skate, and testing my skating skills. WOW!! I’ve already finished the three steps to improving!! Now I just have to do it all again… in the next level of course!!!!!!!
