Goalie Drill #1 - Skating backwards T pushes Shuffles backwards T pushes Shuffles X X Note: This is a timed drill. Time 1:__________________ Time 2:__________________ Time 1 Time 2 Time 1 Instructions: Goalie starts at position X. Goalie sprints down the ice to the far goal line. Goalie performs T pushes behind the net maintaining glove hand in upper position, stick on the ice facing center ice. Goalie sprints out to the second blue line and retreats backwards to first blue line. Goalie sprints to the far goal line. Goalie Drill #4 – Ring Throw Evaluated Drill 10 Rings are positioned in front of the net in a semi circle ( one or two shooters) Rings are shot hard on the ice at the goalie’s stick. Goalie stops the ring and recovers the ring from the ice. Goalie tosses the ring at the defined targets alternating sides. The last ring (10) should be thrown straight out from the goalie towards the blue line. Goalie Drill #6 – Recovery/Agility Evaluated Drill 2 rings placed in front of goalie between free pass circles Goalie is in ready position 1 st shot delivered HARD on the ice directed at one of the corners of the net Goalie is expected to save first shot in a butterfly position controlling the rebound or directing to corner (behind the net). 2 nd shot delivered quickly after 1st in the air (shot type appropriate for age level – wrist or flip). Goalie is measured on: o initial positioning (high or low in goalie crease) o ability to stop both shots o ability to recover quickly from a butterfly position o ability to control rebounds o overall positioning through the drill Drill should be run 5 times.
