Women in Manufacturing is a not-for-profit organisation set up by British Glass and The Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers of London to support, attract and retain women in the UK manufacturing sector. Aims: 1) To encourage and promote the fantastic career opportunities within UK manufacturing 2) To change young women's perceptions of manufacturing 3) To highlight to industry the benefits of striving towards a gender balanced workforce 4) To lobby government and policy makers at a national and local level to address the gender imbalance in the sector WOMEN IN MANUFACTURING

Manufacturing sector needs 1,000,000 more workers by 2020 Women bring a wider mix of skills and experience to a workforce leading to increased productivity and innovation 16 is the critical age at which women are lost to potential careers in engineering It is the role of parents, teachers, careers guidance & industry to challenge young women and their perceptions We must increase young women's knowledge of available careers and give them the confidence to pursue them AMBASSADOR SCHEME
