Battle O’ the Books Book Series vs. Book Series

Competitors  Harry Potter  Twilight  Hunger Games  Percy Jackson  Narnia  Inkheart  A Series of Unfortunate Events  Matched

Criteria Criteria One: How much experience does this author have? Has he/she written other things before this series? Criteria Two: The number of books in this series made into movies. Criteria Three: Does this have more general popularity than the opponent?

Round Uno: Harry Potter vs Matched

Harry Potter-vs-Matched Harry Potter Matched Criteria One: Joanne Rowling has written and published no other books before the Harry Potter series. These books were her first works, and they were surprisingly successful for a first- timer. Criteria Two: Out of the seven books written, eight movies were made. Like Twilight, the last book was split into two movies. So there were eight total movies. Criteria Three: Out of all of the books/movies/merchandise sold, $24,751,000,000 was made. On an Internet poll, 82% of voters said they prefer Harry Potter to Matched. Criteria One: Ally Condie had not written any books before Matched. Even though she had no prior experience, the books were a success and were rated four stars. Criteria Two: There have been no movies made based on any of the books. However, a movie of the first book is being produced and is scheduled for release in the next couple of years. Criteria Three: This series was rated four stars. On an Internet poll, 18% of voters said they prefer Matched to Harry Potter. We couldn’t find the total amount of money made from the books/merchandise.

Winner: Harry Potter: Criteria One: Both books’ authors had no prior experience. Criteria Two: More movies were made for Harry Potter. Criteria Three: Harry Potter had a higher rating. (82% is a bit bigger than 18%)

Round Dos: Twilight vs ASUE (A Series of Unfortunate Events)

It was incredible how someone with no prior writing experience wrote a series that may have become one of the most popular series ever. Criteria Two: Out of the four books in the series, five movies were made. Like Harry Potter, the last book was split into two films. All of the books were accounted for, and there was one more movie. Criteria Three: The total amount of money from the books/movies/merchandise was $5,736,100,000. On an Internet poll, 65% of voters said they prefer Twilight. Criteria One: Daniel Handler had written other books before A Series of Unfortunate Events. He wrote The Basic Eight (his first book) and Watch Your Mouth (his second). Criteria Two: In The Series of Unfortunate Events, there are thirteen books. Out of the thirteen books, there is one movie. The one movie combines the first three books in the series, and rumors of a sequel. No official statement has been made, but Handler is still considering. Criteria Three: The total amount of money made from the books and movies and merchandise was $209,073,645. On an Internet poll, 35% of voters prefer ASUE.

Winner Twilight Criteria One: Other author had more experience. Criteria Two: More movies were made from Twilight than from ASUE. Criteria Three: More money was made and Twilight had a higher percentage of preference than ASUE.
