Vatsalya Trust Working with and for children in crisis for 25 years

To rehabilitate deserted/destitute children by providing medical and developmental facilities till adoptive families are located. To provide shelter, nutrition, formal education and vocational guidance to children from socially and economically backward families. To provide temporary shelter and counseling services to women in distress. To provide congenial permanent shelter to aged men and women. To organize periodical health awareness and community development programs. Objectives

Highlights of site visit Lot of benefits to weaker section of local community provided free of cost : –Special therapy for challenged children. eg. Speech therapy, Physiotherapy, Vision therapy. –Vocational courses (eg. patient assistance, computer training). Courses are affiliated to Y.B. Chavan University, Nasik. –Counseling by prominent doctors for academic, behavioral and emotional disorders for students. –Temporary shelter provided to destitute pregnant women who have been victims of abuse. –Quiet studying area for local students. –Job creation in the community.

Highlights of site visit (contd..) No remuneration for head of trust, trustees or managing committee members. Very experienced and dedicated staff. Very transparent dealing and accounting. Extremely well maintained facility. Hygiene and sanitation given utmost importance. No shoes allowed in the building. Clean kitchens. Care taken to minimize any spread of infections. Warm and loving environment for children. Children separated by age groups into playgroups.

22 children between the ages of 2 to 6 years who could not be given in adoption. Some medical problem viz. physically handicapped, mentally challenged, blind or suffering from HIV or Hepatitis B. Average monthly expenditure of Rs.1500 per month per child. Covers living expenses including food, clothing, therapy, special/regular school and general medical expenses are a permanent liability of the trust. Any advanced treatment costs would still come from the trust fund. Request for Rs.400,000 per annum for sustaining daily expenses for the orphans. Efforts ongoing for securing additional land to build a facility for helping children with special needs. Appeal
