Here are some facts about the legislative branch. The Legislative branch is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Legislative Branch is also know as Congress. There are a total of 100 senators and 435 representatives.

 The legislative branch of government has the authority to make laws for the nation.  The powers of Congress are in Article I of the Constitution:  To levy and collect taxes;  To borrow money for the public treasury;  To declare war;  To raise and support armies;  To provide for a navy;  To call out the military to enforce federal laws, suppress lawlessness, or repel invasions; Responsibility's/Powers of the Congress.

 Every state is represented by two senators.  Members of the Senate are elected for six-year terms.  The Vice-President breaks any ties that occur in the senate. The Senate

 Each state has a different amount of Representatives based on their population.  Members of the House of Representatives are elected for two-year terms.  Every ten years a senses is completed to count all the people in each state. This is when the number of Representatives for each state can be changed.
