Creating a Samba Account Request a Samba account To change your password: –Login to login.ee.duke.edu using an ftp client and retrieve the old password file placed in your home directory by –Run the following command: smbpasswd -r franklin.ee.duke.edu –Follow the instructions –You will not see any text as you type new and old passwords
Mapping the Data Server on Your Computer Open My Computer Go to Tools… Map Network Drive… Select an empty drive letter Enter \\gallium\batcave as the folder\\gallium\batcave Drive should appear with read/write privileges We recommend that you place your data in Data\[YourName]. Be aware that anyone who has access to the server can access your folders
Defending Yourself The data server is for work data, not Harry Potter Audio book data, etc. Use the space with your best judgment Remember: Anyone who can follow these instructions can see what you upload Always carry shark repellent! Just in case…
