“Quiet” 1. “Quiet” is an adjective meaning “not loud” or “soft.” EX: Many people think Mahmoud is QUIET, but he is actually very outgoing. EX: There was a QUIET tap at the door, and I knew my guest had arrived.

Quiet 1A. “Quiet” can also be a verb meaning “to make soft” or “to make not loud” or “to make peaceful or relaxed.” EX: The animal handler tried to QUIET the horses after the fire. EX: The teacher wanted to QUIET the class for the test.

“Quite” 2. “Quite” is an adverb that can mean “very” or “to a great degree.” EX: The noise was QUITE loud and it hurt my ears. EX: Your IQ is QUITE small, which is why you’re so easy to fool.

“Quit” 3. “Quit” means “to stop” or “to leave.” EX: Myron QUIT his job at the deli and went to work at Jordan’s Pizza. EX: We QUIT the mall after we were done with lunch and went to the movies.
