Using Publisher to Create a Lesson Plan Grid GEORGIA SMEE EDTC 560

Objectives:  After completing this lesson you will be able to: Create a folder on your computer to save your lesson plans Create a table in Publisher Create a personal lesson plan grid

Preparation  Locate a sample lesson plan.  Determine headings for lesson plan. Objective, standards, methods, etc.  Locate Publisher on your computer.  Determine where you wish to store your document. My documents Desktop H drive

Step 1- Create a folder for your lesson plans 1. Click on My Documents. 2. Click on new folder. 3. Label folder “Lesson Plans”. 1. You can choose to save all lesson plans in this folder or create subfolders for each subject. 1. Create separate folders in Lesson Plan folder the same way that you created the first folder. Click to see example Click to see example

Click on file. Click on new. Click on folder. Name new folder.

Step 2: Open Publisher 1.Click on Publisher. 2.Open new file. 3.Choose blank document. 4.Choose Full Page.

Step 3: Create Table  1. Click insert table.  2. Drag and draw size of table. This will give you the size of your lesson plan.  3. Choose # of rows and columns. # of Rows = # of headings for your lesson plan. Choose 2 columns for this lesson plan.

Your page should look like this: Now you are ready customize your Lesson Plan!

Step 4. Customize Lesson plan  Highlight grids and choose font and size.  Click on the grids you wish to type in and then click on font and size.  Type in headings.  Type in the headings for each part of the lesson plan.

Customize plan continued  Add lines to your table.  Drag mouse over lesson plan to highlight  Choose line/border style.  Choose more lines. Click on the line style you desire. Click to see sample Click to see sample

Master Lesson Plan Now you are ready to type in your plans, or print out the form and write in the plans.

Some additional tips. Resize the table using your mouse. Save your plans on your thumb drive. Create a folder for each subject. your plans home/back to work. Create a folder for each month. Remember to save each day with save as…. Save your file on the server to prevent loss of data. Play with Publisher and make the format your own.
