Disk Clean-up and Defragmenting Names: Clarissa Ramon Veronica De Los Santos Thomas Youngblut Ryan

Why is Disk Clean-up Important? As the space in the hard-drive decreases the operating system does not work as well and takes longer to perform the everyday tasks. If you clean up your hard-drive on a consistent basis, you will have less problems with your computer.

How Do You Run a Disk Clean-up? 1.Start, All Programs 2. Accessories 3.System Tools 4.Disk Cleanup

Once You Reach Disk Clean-up… As soon as the disk clean-up begins allow it to finish before exiting out. Disk Cleanup will ask you where and what you want to clean up and from there you can select what drive or area you want more space on.

Why Should We Defragment? It is crucial that computer users defragment their computers on a regular basis. If not, then the computer will slow down because it is too busy searching for different parts of the same file in many different areas. The disk defragmenter also ensures that your computer will run better.

How to Run the Disk Defragmenter Follow the same steps as the disk clean-up (Start, Accessories, System Tools), and this time click on Disk Defragmenter.

Once you click on the Disk Defragmenter, this screen will appear. Allow the computer to defragment smoothly by not running too many programs or by refraining from using it at all for the given amount of time it takes.

How Often Should You Do a Disk Cleanup and Defragmenting? Depending on how often you use your computer, will determine how often you should run a disk cleanup and defragment. For most computer users it should probably be about once a month. If you use your computer very often you should consider running these systems about every two weeks and if you hardly use your computer try about every two months.
