Mission College Program Review Report
Program Review Program Review Consisted of Two Parts: 1.Program Review Updates 2.Comprehensive Program Review
Program Review Update Total of 66 programs completed 22 approved immediately 37 by second deadline 7 by final deadline All programs participating in Program Review Update are forwarded to GAP with recommendation to participate in the CBAC process.
Comprehensive Program Review Beta tested a new process for 1 st round review – Established Program Review Evaluation Committee consisting of members of Academic Senate, Classified Senate, President’s Council, CBAC, Associated Students, and Student Services Council. Criteria established – Goals measurable and in relation to college/district goals; reaction to external or internal forces such as enrollment trends & students served.
First-Round Review Results 1.Exceeds planning expectations – No programs in Fall Meets planning expectations – Sociology – Anthropology 3.Needs further evaluation by GAP – Tech Studies – Work Experience
Identified Issues What is the definition of a program? – Are Global Studies and Social Science programs? – What happens if a program does not complete Program Review? Consistent terminology needs to be used across PGC, CBAC, Student Services Council, etc. – In break apart “bundles” such as Health Occ & Tech Studies – Is Foreign Language a “bundle” or not? Continue to refine the Program Review process to create a robust, comprehensive planning cycle which ties together curriculum, SLOs, program life-cycle, and resource allocation.
Next Steps Spring 2010 the committee will work on simplifying forms used for Comprehensive Program Review. Beta test form in Spring-Summer Fall 2010 use the same criteria and Program Review Evaluation Committee to perform first-round review.
