How important is the dragonfly to the environment How does the dragonflies ability to procreate affect their chance of survival ? In what conditions do dragonflies physically adapt ? What is the most useful adaptation of a dragonfly? How did the dragonfly species survive for over 300 million years? What survival skills do dragonflies use to stay alive? What sort of habitat are dragonflies required to live in in order to survive? What aspects of the dragonflies body helps it to survive? How does the dragonflies ability to procreate affect its chance survival

The dragonfly has been around for over 300 million years and have been able to physically adapt to the environment. They most like to live in damp areas as when young were an aquatic animal,a nymph. You may find dragonflies at the rivers edge. They like to mate in cold damp places They like moist areas What dragonflies are required to eat As predators they eat many kinds of insects such as Midges Gnats Flies Bees Butterflies

In the harsh kill or be killed environment the dragonflies live in,they have developed strategies to avoid and fool predators. Everyday they face the challenge of cleverly outwitting their predators and escaping death traps. Some dragonflies migrate if they are living in a dangerous area. One of the strategies that dragonflies use I to bite the predators if caught but dragonflies are rarely caught as they can travel from km per hour. This is another adaptation, being able to fly and escape quickly. They are the worlds fastest insect, this is useful, they are too fast to be eaten.

The dragonfly species has been on the earth for over 300 million years. Although some class the dragonfly as unimportant if the species were to suddenly become extinct you would find that the pesky bugs will have multiplied. Dragonflies eat enormous amounts of insects. Luckily we do not see the dragonfly going extinct any time soon. This is because dragonflies have multiplied to survive.

For any species to survive there needs to be an ability to procreate. If humans suddenly stopped being able to have children the human race would slowly die out. This is the same with any species. If there weren’t enough dragonflies to multiply then the species would die. The dragonfly cannot be too picky of there mates or there would be no chance of survival.

The dragonfly’s body is a very complex piece of biology. The most important part of the body is the wings. Without these survival would be hard. The wings enable fast escape and easy access to food and water as it can go to the nearest food source possible and quickly.

As a young dragonfly they are an aquatic nymph Then they become adult and find a mate They then lay eggs and restart the life cycle

Dragonfly wings are such a delicate and beautiful Source of nature. With such a beautiful pattern, are they all the same? Or are they unique and precious like the human fingertip. We are going to discover as a group of detectives “The mystery of the wing”. First we will find pictures of dragonfly wings. Then we will compare it to the wing that we have found. Several tests will be taken on the wings under a microscope.

Dragonflies wings are like precious human fingerprints they all are unique there are no two that are the same. They have a massive impact on the dragonflies survival. The wings are crucial because they help the dragonfly fly away from predators in fact the dragonfly is the fastest insect that can fly. The wings are very delicate and if they are damaged the dragonfly cant fly. A picture of a real wing
