Today’s Agenda SACS Definitions and Impacts –Off-Campus Instructional Sites –Dual or Joint Degrees Copy of Course Syllabi –Fall 2012, Spring 2013 update Undergraduate Academic Assessment Plans - Update Discussion Items

SACS Definitions and Impacts Off-Campus Instructional Sites Definition: “An off-campus instructional site is a teaching site located geographically apart from the main campus [Gainesville, FL]. A site at which an institution provides electronic delivery and where students go to access the support services needed is also considered an off-campus instructional site. The site is not independent of the institution’s main campus.” (p. 119, SACSCOC Resource Manual May 2012)

SACS Definitions and Impacts Off-Campus Instructional Sites Impact: Every college needs to be aware of this definition and report any prospective sites PRIOR to implementation. -If 50% or more of a degree program will be delivered at the site, SACSCOC approval prior to implementation is required. -If 25-49% of a degree program will be delivered at the site, UF is required to notify SACSCOC prior to implementation.

SACS Definitions and Impacts Off-Campus Instructional Sites Impact: This is especially important for certificate programs where 3 credits could constitute 25% of a 12 credit certificate program. -Must include physical address of the site. -UF must notify SACSCOC if this location changes along with impact of address change.

SACS Definitions and Impacts DUAL Educational Programs (Dual Degree) Definition: “A dual educational program is one whereby students study at two or more institutions, and each institution awards a separate program completion credential bearing only its own name, seal and signature.” (p. 1, SACSCOC Collaborative Academic Arrangements: Policy and Procedures)

SACS Definitions and Impacts DUAL Educational Programs Impact: Every college needs to be aware of this definition and report any prospective program PRIOR to implementation. -Requires UF to notify SACSCOC prior to implementation with a copy of the signed agreement and contact information for each institution.

SACS Definitions and Impacts JOINT Educational Programs (Joint Degree) Definition: “A joint educational program is one whereby students study at two or more institutions and are awarded a single program completion credential bearing the names, seals and signatures of each of the participating institutions.” (p. 1, SACSCOC Collaborative Academic Arrangements: Policy and Procedures)

SACS Definitions and Impacts JOINT Educational Programs Impact: Every college needs to be aware of this definition and report any prospective program PRIOR to implementation. -If program is joint with another SACSCOC accredited institution, UF is required to notify SACSCOC prior to implementation with a copy of the signed agreement and contact information for each institution

SACS Definitions and Impacts JOINT Educational Programs Impact: Every college needs to be aware of this definition and report any prospective program PRIOR to implementation. -If program is joint with an institution NOT accredited by SACSCOC, UF is required to prepare a prospectus and request SACSCOC approval prior to implementation.
