Education: (looked at in a designer perspective of purpose) I recently used this virtual tool on students in a digital media class to see their perspective and personal views. They were timid at first but after some personal time in Second Life they seemed to find great potential in the possibilities and learning abilities that were shared in the many worlds and possibilities that were available to them and their future design careers.

I have visited many art galleries and educational art communities, but for this review I went to SLACC, SL Art Community Centre. In this location was numerous artists who had gathered a wide variety of art selections in different rooms. Each room was rented out at $100L a week. (those being Linden dollars) Art guides were presented when first entered, learning information about the art and artist in general. I think this is a great marketing tool for artists as they are able to expand not only in the real world with their art yet in virtual world where for most of these artists their art is really made.

This is one of the artist exhibits where nature and landscaping was the main objective in the overall presentation. When you first entered the cave presentation on the wall was glowing as if one could walk right through to another world. It is amazing how the graphics and the virtual enhancement within this world is so real at times.

The interactive creations of SL is not only in selecting gifts or notecard information to take along with you, yet there is a visual experience and creative mind set for a designer’s conceptual ideation. These are still images on this presentation yet in the SL world they glow and continuously moved as if they were fluid and alive. One of my favorite rooms in the centre because of its continuous beauty and fluidity of movement.

Making a Living in SL : (looked at in a designer perspective of purpose) As my class studied the possibilities of SL we came to a conclusion that it would be an excellent way of stretching the possibilities of making a living for a designer with the marketing and showing off new products to new clientele. It is an excellent tool of meeting other artists and gathering concept ideation within a very financial cost savings effective way. I personally could see the creativeness in the clever marketing and sales for artists and designers in this virtual type of world. An excellent way of using this tool as a virtual business card.
