Today you will know what assignment 3 of unit 2 is. You will understand the requirements of the task and the assessment criteria. You will be able to start work to achieve the P3 criteria. Unit 2 – Assignment 3

Assignment 3: Employment Opportunities in the Uniformed Public Services Task 1: Wall Display You must work in pairs to produce a wall display that outlines the range and the type of work available within the public services. You must include examples from the emergency services, the armed forces and other uniformed public services. i.e. The Coast Guard. Your display should cover the following: Range of EmploymentType of work Different operational jobs i.e. ambulance service, patient transport services, technician and paramedic Civilian support roles i.e. police control room operators, scenes of crime officers, community support officers Management and administrative roles Part-time opportunities i.e. Special constables, Retained fire fighters, the Royal Navy Reserve, and the Territorial Army Range of emergency and routine work undertaken Daily work routine Administrative work Work with other public services Community work Implications of working in the public services on a personal level Positive and negative aspects of working in the services Examples of recent peacekeeping activities and humanitarian work Roles at major incidents Examples of activities in recent conflicts

Assignment 3: Research Task You need to RESEARCH the types of operational, civilian, management, administrative and part-time jobs each type of service offers and you need to explain the type of work they do. In your pairs you need to look at the various websites listed and identify the range and types of work available in the 3 service areas… Fill these in on your A3 sheets Type of work Range of emergency and routine work undertaken Daily work routine Administrative work Work with other public services Community work Implications of working in the public services on a personal level Positive and negative aspects of working in the services Examples of recent peacekeeping activities and humanitarian work Roles at major incidents Examples of activities in recent conflicts

Assignment 3: Wall Display You need to put all of your research into a wall display. The Display is aimed at year 11 students and their careers evening. You MUST make the display informative and eye-catching. Make sure that you use the relevant logos of services and images to catch the attention of the year 11 students. You display must also have the title: Employment Opportunities in the Uniformed Public Services
