Snapshot of Greater Shepparton Location - North-Central Victoria approx 180km north of Melbourne Population – 62,352 (ABS ERP 2012) Diversity – 15.7% of residents born overseas – Largest aboriginal population outside of metro Melbourne Greater Shepparton is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria Major agricultural industries – fruit and diary

How did it all start? Community support for Council to consider CCTV project over a number of years Investigation into CCTV Discussion Paper prepared for Council consideration Incorporated as an initiative of the Safer City Strategy

Scope Part fibre - part wireless network Mix of 18 Fixed & PTZ cameras (6 in partnership) Server & Control Room at Shepparton Police Station Council owns the CCTV system Victoria Police responsible for management of footage Record 24/7 `Passive’ monitoring 24/7 with `Active’ monitoring during peak times $250k DoJ $178K AGD $285k Council
