Purpose of the Presentation  Talk about changes in CLL  Show links to some other strategies  Show why ACE is relevant to more than just the curriculum

Changes in CLL  Move from involving as many people as possible as cheaply as possible, to targetting  Taking a CLD approach about supporting achievement of individuals and communities  Provide pathways  Link curriculum, out of school hours and community activity

Re-organising (right now!)  Moving staff to fit 29 ILC’s (ASG’s)  Each area and each ILC will have a named librarian, cultural officer, facilities manager, sports co-ordinator, youth worker and CLD officer  Executive and Council are putting resources in to back the rhetoric  cultural coordinators  new youth work resources

National Strategies  Working and Learning Together (WALT) Achievement through learning for young people Engaging with young people to facilitate their personal, social and educational development and enable them to gain a voice, influence and a place in society.  National Youth Work Strategy Youth work has a significant role to play in delivering our broad vision for Scotland’s young people – that they are nurtured, safe, active, healthy, achieving, included, respected and responsible. Youth work opportunities can also support young people to live their lives as confident individuals, effective contributors, successful learners and responsible citizens

National Strategies National Cultural Strategy –Promoting and enhancing education and lifelong learning in and through arts culture and heritage. Culture can be a social thread, uniting people and linking otherwise disparate parts of their lives. Highland Council Youth Work policy –Engaging with young people and leading on giving them a voice in decisions that affect them –Support and development of achievement frameworks

Community Learning and Leisure ACE is important for CLL and CLL is important for ACE  We could be a resource  We would also like to be a partner
