Georgia Technology Authority GETS Integrated Projects

Georgia Technology Authority Server & Storage Consolidation (SCON/StorCon) Implementation of a standardized, consolidated environment improves: ▪Availability, support, and recovery New storage environment at NADC will accommodate server and storage consolidation Phased approach to server consolidation Agency servers will be migrated in waves over a 15 month period The requirements of each application will dictate the consolidated environment at the NADC

Georgia Technology Authority Application Remediation Project Overview Infrastructure and network transformation will require changes in the environment ▪Application remediation ▪Changes to code or application configurations DNS services will be migrated from the agency networks and moved to new servers As IP Addresses are encountered that overlap IP Addresses in the NADC, this overlap will have to be resolved by making changes to the incoming IP Addresses For the purposes of the consolidation projects, we are defining “remediation” as any changes to an application that are necessary for that application to function properly in the new environment

Georgia Technology Authority Application Remediation Kick-off meeting ▪Application owners and developers ▪Review plans and preliminary timeframes ▪Discuss project and plans at high level Project Control Book or ‘PCB’ Review ▪Primary repository for all Application Remediation information Current Sever In-Scope list, Risks, Issues, Contacts, Remediation Check List and other useful information Weekly Meetings ▪Day/time established during kick-off meeting ▪Agenda and updated PCB provided prior to each meeting ▪Detailed discussions to work through the Server In-Scope list and other items including updates, requests and/or information from other initiatives Active Directory (AD), SCON, DNS/DHCP, IP Addressing and Managed Security and StorCon What’s in store for your Agency from the Application Remediation Team?

Georgia Technology Authority Application Remediation – Agency Responsibilities Perform application validation ▪ Review and revise information gathered from the Application Workbooks Participate in the application remediation facilitation workshops/meetings ▪ Identify Issues and Risks Perform application remediation ▪ Perform and document remediation in preparation for production cutover ▪ Apply remediation changes at cutover Perform UAT (User Acceptance Testing) Approve cutover to production Understand the agency resource needs in order to execute the tasks on the project plan as scheduled

Georgia Technology Authority Application Remediation Facilitation Team – Primary Members GTA Service Delivery Consultant IBM Client Solution Advocate GTA Project Manager ▪Bonnie Manns Roache GTA Tower Lead ▪Michael Timms IBM Project Managers ▪Greg Zampier, John Dicus, Bruce Cox IBM SCON Architect ▪Chuck Rucci

Georgia Technology Authority How will the Application Development Team know what to change? ▪Working with the experts within the agencies, IBM Project Managers will walk through each application remediation check list and help identify necessary changes How much time will Application Remediation take? ▪Unknown until the work for each server/application is fully defined with the application development team. At this time with known data the applications are believed to be at complexity levels of 4 to 12 weeks of work effort, including testing Will servers already at the NADC be included in consolidation and will those servers need remediation? ▪Yes. Servers already at the NADC will be included in the consolidation and remediation will need to be performed Application Remediation – Commonly Asked Questions

Georgia Technology Authority Application Remediation – Commonly Asked Questions What level of work effort is expected from my agency application team to perform the application remediation? ▪All agencies should treat the application remediation efforts as application projects. All the standard, best practices for the Software Development Life Cycle should be followed including but not limited to: documenting requirements documenting procedures following change management processes developing and performing a full test methodology including system and user acceptance testing documenting any peripheral functions with other applications or scripts in the current and target environments
