Welcome to U.S. History II! Please find your name on the desks and complete the student information sheet. When you are finished, raise your hand to get a syllabus from your teachers, Ms. Piacitelli and Mr. Mahegan. –We are so happy to have you here with us this year!

Rotating Schedule Period MTWRF 1HR A A A A A B B B B B C C C C C D D D D D E E E E E

When’s lunch? You will have first, second, or third lunch, depending on what FLOOR you are on for your 4 th period class 2 nd and 3 rd floor 4th floor 5 th floor and gym First Lunch, 10:20 Second Lunch, 11:00 Third Lunch, 11:40

Schedule Stuff Today and tomorrow we will be running a Monday Schedule. Rotation will start next week. Today’s bell schedule is funky – –HR Long –Lunch Normal –Everything Else short –Return to HR at the end of the day

Some Rules and Things You Need to Know

Doors Seriously. Doors marked with “Emergency Exit Alarm will Sound” really will sound an alarm. If you try to use them, the alarm will go off in the main office and someone … will come running! You may also be trapped. This would be really lame. Best just to not use them and be in class where you belong.

What do all these pictures have in common? All staff have been instructed to confiscate hats on heads and any electronic device that is out and hold them until the end of the day. Non-compliance means a step up the consequence ladder to the unit leaders and other not-fun things. –Detention, etc.

Oh man! I forgot to take off and put away! I’ll just hand it over now, knowing that if I do, I’ll get it back this afternoon and that will be the end of it.

OMG! I’m Late! If you are late to school: Before 7:50 – Get the pass downstairs and HURRY UPSTAIRS! You can still make it to class if you rush. Bring the pass to your first period teacher. –Your first period teacher will tell you what the consequence is for being late. If you arrive after 7:50 you will have to wait in the cafeteria until the homeroom portion of first period and face whatever consequence your first period teacher assigns for missing the whole class.

What if I am late to class another period? Don’t be. But if you are, the teacher will decide the consequence (usually a detention) based on the situation. –You may also be asked to check in with your unit leader if you are very late or it is a habit.

What’s the Room 411 Piacitelli - Mahegan Routine / Consequence? The door will close and lock at the bell. If you arrive late: –Take a late slip from the door –Fill it out (name, period, time, do you have a pass?) –Take off hats and electronics –Knock –Give late slip and pass (if you have one) to the teacher The consequence will depend on the circumstances.

Absent Notes Bring your absent note to your homeroom teacher. It should have Your name Date Absent Reason Absent Parent/Guardian name Parent/Guardian Contact #

Early Dismissal If you need to leave school early, get a pass from your unit leader. –Yes- even if you have a note from home and you showed it to your teachers –Yes- even if your mom called Val and she told you it was ok to leave. Always Always Always get a pass from your unit leader.

Cafeteria Rules R-E-S-P-E-C-T (find out what it means to cafeteria staff) Don’t push, shove, or cut in line. Be seated if you are not in the lunch line waiting to get food. Throw away trash and put trays on the end of the tables. IT’S ALL YOU!

Supplies for History Class: Spiral notebook Two pocket folder Pen or pencil

Gee, I wonder if there is a way to get all those materials instantly, even though I didn’t bring them with me to class today?

In the deal of the century, you can buy EVERYTHING YOU NEED for history class from Ms. Piacitelli and Mr. Mahegan for just $1.00!

Any Questions?
