Sailor, D.H. "Learning Styles of Children." Education.com. N.p., 8 Dec Web. 21 Oct  all learning styles work for all children.  Any learning styles can be adapted to all subjects.  Learning styles are basically how a person processes data.  Certain learning styles can help children learn more effectively than others.  Learning styles theories center around a child’s motivation and personality.

"Learning Styles." - Magazine Article. N.p., n.d. Web. 06 Nov  In the United Kingdom understands that there are different learning styles this is enforced by the government and followed by the local authorities and teachers.  Each new teacher is trained in being able to identify the different kinds of learning styles.  Some people think learning the different learning styles is a waste of time and money.  Each person learns in different ways or learning styles.  Some people believe that a child could be tested to see which learning style group they fall in.  Honey and Muford created a questionnaire for identifying learning styles.

"What Are the 4 VARK Learning Styles?" About. N.p., n.d. Web. 06 Nov  Learning styles help identify how a person learns.  The learning style concept became popular in the 1970s.  There isn’t a lot of evidence that shows a person’s learning style influences their learning results.  Learning styles are ways to categorize groups of learners.  VARK is the most popular learning style model.  VARK categorizes learners into four groups, visual, auditory, reading and writing and kinesthetic learners.  Visual learners learn more with “pictures, movies, and diagrams”. Third paragraph.  Auditory learners learn better with “music, discussion, and lectures”. Third paragraph.  Reading and writing learners tend to understand more when they “make lists, read textbooks, and take notes”. Third paragraph.  Kinesthetic learners are able to learn easier when they are able to move around and do more hands-on activity.

"Different Learning Styles in Education." Education.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 24 Oct  Everyone learns differently and has their own learning style.  Neil Fleming developed a learning style model in 1987 called VAK.  VAK stands for the first letters of the different styles which are visual, auditory and kinesthetic.  After more research Fleming updated VAK by adding another learning style read/write so now his model is called VARK.  No one has just one learning style.  People who have the visual learning style can see something and store that information.  Visual learners like to deal in the details and usually are good readers and organizers. They can be distracted easily and remember a face more that a name. They also need eye contact to focus on what a person is talking about.  People who are auditory learners like to be told things rather than read them.  People who are kinesthetic learners learn by actually doing the task or physically touching what they are learning about.  A kinesthetic learner usually are good in the outdoors, are good in sports or drama, they show their feeling through physical action, and they like to figure things out for themselves. They sometimes get labeled as difficult or have ADHD.

I liked this topic of study because Creekside Intermediate allowed me to be involved with learning about the various learning styles in today’s education system. I learned a lot about the different types of learning styles and this will help me in my future career path.

Thank you to my mentor, Staci Weber, evaluators, teacher, Mrs. Click, and parents for coming out to view my presentation on my ISM project! I really appreciate it!
