Can we help Captain Kirk power up his Communicator using lemons?

 A lemon  Penny  Zinc coated screws  Multimeter  2 alligator clips

1. Insert penny & zinc coated screw into the lemon. 2. Connect 2 wires with alligator clips to the penny and the screw. 3. Connect the Multimeter to the other end of the two wires. 4. Measure the voltage

All batteries have a "+" and "-" side. The Lemon Battery in the picture shows Copper = positive (+) Zinc/Steel (eg. paper clip) = negative (–)

Yes, now we can help Captain Kirk get back to his spaceship ! Yippie!

1.5 V V =

1. Connect the penny of one lemon to the zinc screw of the next lemon. 2. Measure voltage. 3. Repeat to connect 3 lemons. 4. Measure voltage again. ( You should have one lemon with penny unconnected at one end and one lemon with zinc screw unconnected at the other end. )

 Use alligator clip to connect the lemon battery to the Digital Clock.  Positive side (lemon battery)  Positive side (Digital clock)  negative side (lemon battery)  negative side (Digital clock) Digital Clock
