REAL TIME INTUBATION DATA COLLECTION
Intubations in the ICU Nationwide Multicenter study Begins once the IRB has been approved in your center
1. To describe the current intubation practice through a multicenter study. 2. To collect information on complications that may surface during the intubation process and to isolate predictive factors for these complications.
Prospective cross-sectional, observational study of adult critically ill patients admitted to ICUs at participating centers. MICU SICU
Population/setting: ◦ ICUs (medical/surgical/mixed) will be participating in the study. ◦ Patients will be included in the study. Inclusion: ◦ All adults (>18 years) ◦ Patients admitted in ICUs (medical and surgical) Exclusion: ◦ Patients <18 years of age ◦ Previously enrolled in this study ◦ Patients with endotracheal intubations performed outside the ICU (in the operating room, in and outside the hospital) are excluded.
Respiratory Therapists/Nurse Managers/NP / NA/other designated person will complete the questionnaire form following the intubation. The physician provider will assist with a portion of the questionaire.
Physician provider will need to determine the following: Complications Lifting force Position of vocal cords Glottis exposure: (Cormack and Lehane grade)
A completed forms folder will be returned to the HEMAIR study Investigator in the center.
