Mercedes Martinez Graduation Project

Thesis Statement Gasoline electric hybrids outweigh the convenience and initial low prices of standard gasoline cars, because gasoline electric hybrids are more economical, have greater fuel efficiency, and do not cause as severe impact on the environment.

Conventional Car History. The automotive industry was introduced to the world in the late 18 th century and early 19 th century. Before the automobile was introduced people were skeptical, since they were used to horse drawn- carriages. There wasn’t a particular person that was responsible for the automobile, in fact the idea of the automobile was developed and improved over time as more people experimented with this idea. The automobile concept inspired all sorts of innovative transportation.

Conventional car History continued. Contributors to the automobile.  1769 Nicolas J. Cugnot; self propelled road vehicle designed to carry people.  1860 Jean J. Etienne; built the first internal engine using gasoline.  In 1885 Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz from Germany produced the four stroke gasoline engine. Introducing the assembly line In 1914 Henry Ford established the Assembly Line. The Assembly line created job opportunities for semi skilled workers rather than highly qualified professionals. The assembly line and the automobile igniting all sorts of automobile manufacturing industries and businesses worldwide.

Gasoline Electric Hybrids. Is a vehicle that runs on two or more power sources. The gasoline electric hybrid runs on a gasoline motor and a powerful battery that can be recharged just by simply applying the brakes. The gasoline electric engine will run on gasoline at high speeds but will run on its battery at lower speeds.

Conventional Cars vs. G.E. Hybrids Conventional Car Qualities  Has a decrease in mpg.  Diggs deeper into your pockets.  Produces Green house gases.  Designed with bigger engines.  Unnecessary horse power and usage of money. Gasoline Electric Hybrid Qualities  Have an increase in mpg.  A generous tax credit in return.  Designed with smaller and more efficient engines.  Has an accommodating second power source.  Has self generating power sources.  Produces less emissions to our atmosphere.
