Typically until marriage. Script Welp. Let’s get to the facts. Music/Sounds AbodyBeatz, “No Way” Hip Hop Instrumental Music/Sounds Is It Worth It? Script Also, 4 out of 10 teen girls that are sexually active have had a STD that could result in death or infertility. Script And out of all the teens, ages 13 to 19 diagnosed with HIV, males make up two-thirds of those cases. Script In 2011, in a survey taken by The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, 33% of 9 th graders have had sex before and 21% were currently sexually active. Script Remember when we said it affects the government? Well, 34% of teen mothers never get a GED or Diploma. Over an entire lifetime, a person who’s graduated college will make more than a high school dropout. Also, over an entire lifetime, a person who’s dropped out will cost the country approximately a quarter of a million only from lost earnings, taxes, and productivity. Man…That’s a lot of money. If all the students who dropped out in just the class of 2011 had graduated instead, it’s estimated their income alone would boost the nations economy in additional income by $154 billion in the span of their lifetimes. 63% of teen mothers receive public benefits within the first year of parenthood Script Less then 2% of women who have babies before age 18 finish college by age 30. And almost 25% of Americans don’t graduate with their class. Approximately 250,000 teen pregnancies each year, makes America #1 in teen pregnancies out of the developed the developed world. Crazy, right? 41% of teen mothers within a year of their child’s birth will be in poverty and 50%of teen mothers will be living in poverty by the time their child turns three. Script 67% of teen mothers who moved out of their family’s household live in poverty, and 63% of teen mothers receive public benefits within the first year of parenthood. Studies show that children born to teen moms tend to be significantly less prepared to do well in school. Music/Sounds AbodyBeatz, “No Way” Hip Hop Instrumental Music/Sounds Is It Worth It? Asking the questions: What does abstinence mean to you? How many people do you think practice abstinence? Do you know anyone who has an unwanted pregnancy or contracted an STD? We found that: -55% don’t know what abstinence means -25% only know people who’ve had unwanted pregnancies -5% only know people who’ve contracted STDs -65% know people who’ve had unwanted pregnancies and contracted STDs -57% know no people who practice abstinence (of the people who knew what abstinence meant) Script Wow! That’s scary! Script That is precisely why this topic needed to be addressed. How can we expect teens to make healthy choices when they don’t know what abstinence means?!
