5 Role of the Trainer The trainer’s primary role is to become a subject matter expert on the standardized administration of the OCAN tool Trainers are leaders within their HSP/LHIN and may have opportunities to share OCAN information with their HSP’s stakeholders: –Consumers –Staff –Regional partners –LHIN representatives

9 The Adult Learner Principles of Adult Education: –Adults are motivated to learn intrinsically & extrinsically –Adults learn best when they are engaged as active participants in the learning process –Not all adults learn the same way –Adults learn more effectively when given timely and appropriate feedback

10 The Adult Learner Activity Let’s reflect: Consider a situation where you were a successful learner What were you learning about? What was it about the experience that made it work for you? Were there any challenges to your learning that you needed to overcome?
