Wind Turbine By Ertugrul. Wind Turbine A windmill is a machine that converts the energy of wind into rotational energy by means of vanes called sails.
In general, windmills were used as early as 200 B.C. in Persia. Windmills first appeared in Europe during the middle ages, around 11 th to 12 th centuries.

 Wind is the movement of air from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure. In fact, wind exists because the sun unevenly heats the surface.

By Chloe, Evie and Charlotte Wind power By Chloe, Evie and Charlotte

Who invented …… The first wind turbine Charles F. brush invented the first wind turbine in 1888. Wind power Professor James Blyth built the first wind mill for electricity production in 1887 in Glasgow, Scotland and used the wind power to power his holiday cottage. Later he built a similar wind mill to power an asylum in Montrose.

International wind power The countries that use the most wind power are ….. Germany, Denmark the U.S and Spain. There are others such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Wales, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, England, India, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa

Advantages for wind power The wind is free and modern technology it can be captured efficiently. It does not create green house gasses or other pollutants. Although wind turbines are tall they do not take up much of the land. Wind turbines are available in many sizes which means a vast range of people are able to use them.

History There is some evidence that wind energy was used to propel boats along the Nile as early as 5000bc Ancient mariners used sails to capture wind and explore the world. Farmers once used wind mills to grind grain and pump water. Most of wind energy comes from turbines which can be as tall as a 20 story building and have 200 foot long blades !!!

More history For more than 2 millennia wind powered machines has ground grain, pumped water and overall have been to great use. Wind powered pumps used to drain the polders of the Netherlands. In regions such as the American mid-west and the Australian out back wind pumps provided water for people’s live stock and steam engines

So , now that we have told you a bit about it, will you change your mind and use wind power?

Thank you!
