Why would we use? Check for understanding after a difficult topic Pose a question to your class Motivate participation Ask open-ended questions to spark discussion See what students know before teaching a topic Have students reflect on what they have learned Ask students how well they know material or how long they have studied for a test Survey Find out what students know about a subject or topic before you teach Make classroom decisions, such as what book to read next Get anonymous feedback on teacher instruction or strategy Provide a break for students to assess their learning Quiz or test Exit Ticket

Answer Garden A free, minimalistic feedback tool for online brainstorming or polling Good way to get feedback from a group or establish the knowledge level of a class on a certain topic Post it in a tweet or you can embed it on your website or blog to use it as a poll or guestbook. People post their answers to your question, either by entering their own answers or by clicking on and submitting existing answers. These are then represented in your AnswerGarden in the form of a growing word cloud. There are four modes: Classroom Mode allows respondents to submit an unlimited number of answers, but may only submit each answer once. Brainstorm mode allow respondents to submit an unlimited number of answers, including unlimited copies of the same answer. Moderator Mode allows all answer to redirected to an AntiGarden so that you can approve the answers before they appear in your Answer Garden. In Locked Mode, the Answer Garden is closed and no new answers can be submitted.

Backchannel Chat Class discussion tool that is good for increasing participation in classroom discussions and for informally assessing your students’ knowledge. Shy and quiet students can ask questions and get involved in discussions. Teachers can control all aspects of the discussion, remove messages, prevent students from posting, or take control and lock a room so that only you can add content. Rooms can even be set up with password protection. Actions appear instantly and users can see when people are typing and vote on messages in real time. Student don’t have to provide personal information and can use avatars or Google logins. Can embed YouTube videos, Flickr picture and other Web 2.0 tools directly into the conversation. Chats have search and archiving capabilities.

Mastery Connect App that allows students to take assignments, test, quizzes, and formative assessments using an iPod, iPad, or iPhone Teachers can assess and track mastery of state and Common Core standards and share common assessments Teachers can create and upload assessments or assignments in any format such as Word, PDF, etc. and deliver them automatically to the device. The students will have a final set of fie to tell a story in pictures Students can add a title and explanation and save the story

For All Rubrics Free for all teachers Allows you to import, create and score rubrics on your iPad, tablet or smartphone.
