What Teaching Means to Me Starting where the students and teacher are Being a facilitator of knowledge Providing the tools for students to succeed

What Teaching Means to Me I do not, nor have I ever, planned on being a “teacher.” I want to help students learn! The image in my mind of teaching is someone standing at the front of the room and lecturing. I will not do that. I will work with the kids and lead them to their own conclusions, answers, and ultimate knowledge of how our world is.

How I Came to be a Teacher My mother and grandmother both worked in schools. They instilled in me a love of books, learning, and helping others achieve the greatness that we know is inside us all.

What I Have Learned Every student is a person – unique with their own needs, strengths, and interests Every teacher is a person – unique with their own needs, strengths, and interests Sometimes it takes a lot to reach a student, but when it happens, it’s worth it Connections are the only way to authentically teach

What I Hope to Learn How to handle surprising or heartbreaking situations How to take advantage of every moment without getting in trouble with the school!

In Conclusion I cannot wait to get my own classroom, try out what I learned, and come into my own teaching style Look out, elementary schoolers, you’re about to get your learn on!
