A Brief History of Time Began collaborative development of research collections in 1930’s Expanded in 1950’s Formalized in 1980’s with MOU and Principles of Cooperation Governance structure, formal committees, and central staffing/funding “to marshal the financial, human, and information resources of their research libraries through cooperative efforts in order to create a rich and unparalleled knowledge environment that furthers the universities' teaching, research, and service missions.” Funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

Value Equation Value drives collaboration One collection In our DNA – budget, structure, culture, staffing, etc. Services – direct borrowing, joint catalog, etc. to enable along with geographic proximity Statistics Funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

Mellon Foundation
