VOCABULARY STANDARD FORM OF A QUADRATIC FUNCTION:, where and are constants. the sign of determines whether the function has a minimum or a maximum value. AXIS OF SYMMETRY: The line through the parabola about which the parabola is symmetric, given by the equation. VERTEX: The point on the parabola that is the maximum or minimum of the function. The vertex coordinates are given by.
