How do people in Mexico celebrate Day of the Dead? It is a big festival in Mexico.

On the first two days of November, people visit the graves of their family to give flowers and gifts. They clean the graves too.

People make altars in their homes. What things can you see?

Some cities have street parades.

The Day of the Dead is a time to remember the dead. It is important for Mexican people to respect their ancestors.

In Japan, you also have a festival to remember the dead. What festival is it? It’s Obon.

Think about Obon and Day of the Dead. What is the same? What is different?

Now, let’s make ‘papel picado’! It is a Mexican folk art. It is a way of cutting paper that uses a chisel. We will make simple versions, using scissors.
