Media Pitch 2014 By Jordon Jones, Ryan Morris and James Purser

Samuel Turner Age:17 Role: Psychiatric hospital escapee.

Why did we choose this person for the role?  He is experienced in acting  Confident, focused and committed.  Is willing to push the boundaries when it comes to acting. Cast

Cast-Continued Rachel Lewis (Rae Bae) Age:16 Role: Anabella, young mother of new-born child.

Why did we choose this person for the role?  Very experienced actor  In the meeting we quickly realised how perfect of a match she was for the role.  Confident, focused and committed Cast Continued

Character types throughout our film These are the different characters which will be included through the whole film: The Protagonist The Antagonist The protagonist’s friend who will most likely inevitably die Emergency services e.g. police Psychiatric hospital workers

Crew James Purser: Camera operator, director of photography, Jordon Jones: Director, location manager Assistant director, main editor We are all responsible for production designing also

 The animatic will give us a basis of what direction the filming will go  We will adapt it if needed  It will give us something to compare to during the filming and also with the final product Animatic

 Starts with protagonist (Annabella) going for walk with her child  Camera shows that she is being watched & followed (by the antagonist)  The Psychiatric hospital siren starts  Protagonist brushes siren off as a weekly test  Looks at phone to show date & time  Antagonist becomes faster and closer to protagonist  Protagonist realises she’s being followed and tries to run  Chase ensues  She thinks she’s lost him in the heavily wooded area, but soon she is lost herself and is confused  Cuts to black Step-by-step run through of the concept

 With the use of these camera, we plan to use many different types of shots to build atmosphere. For example we will be using;  Establishing shots  Dolly  Various Close up’s  Mid-shots  Dutch tilt to show confusion  First person/pov Shots

 Both of our characters are in need of costumes which portray their character’s in the right way. Artistic Choices

 Typical escapee straight jacket/jump suits  Black boots  This gives the audience the full awareness that the character has just escaped from a mental hospital Escapee

 As she is portraying the innocent character in the plot, we are going to put her in typical everyday clothing of a cold winters day/night. For example;  Leggings  Jumper  Converse shoes Anabella

Research Conventions This graph clearly shows our recommended target audience that we should aim for.

 With this graph, we are using it to our advantage, therefore we are aiming to target this film at 15 or 18 classifications. Film classification

 First horror film made in by Georges Melies.  It was called supernatural thriller in 1896 called Le Manoir du diable (The House of the Devil) about First horror film made

 Some people love horror, some people hate it.  This genre does however engage the audiences  However you feel about the horror film, there’s no denying its ability to engage with film fans around the world and it’s no surprise that it has secured its place as one of the most popular types of film. Split audiences

 Insidious  Texas chainsaw Massacre  Annabelle  Saw Franchise  Nightmare on elm street  Conjuring  The Possession Films in our chosen genre

Crew

U.S.P Unique Selling Point

 Location fits into the plot of the story.  Plot is well thought-out with unique features and it can be part of normal life.  The audience connect to the innocent characters in the story.  Typical man vs woman scenario ( This can be predictable, however our plot has many twists and turns to make it original)  Set by an actual Psychiatric hospital which adds to the verisimilitude of the film Believable

 If the music doesn’t’ get you engaged in this film, nothing will. The music in this piece brings a much more deeper atmosphere for the scenario that the audience are witnessing at the very start and so will keep them on the edge, making them expect the un-expected. Eerie Musical content

 At times, the music is quiet, which only broadens the creepy atmosphere to when the tone changes when action takes place.  The music will help to build overall tension within the film and keep the audience enaged. Eerie musical content

 Our film cuts straight into the action. We believe this will get the audience more engaged straight from the start, rather than slowly luring them into the story like many film openings do, it will build interest, suspense and tension quickly and the audience will be able to get more into the film and make them feel as if they’re actually there Powerful, condensed opening

 Coming round now is a hand-out of a typical credit sequence that we researched that we will be using in our opening two minutes of the films Our credit sequence

Location-White Gates, Crowthorne Why?  Eerie  Ominous  Dark  Reliable

When? We are planning on filming during the Christmas Break from 6 th form. This is from Friday the 19 th of December to the 5 th of January 2015 this will allow us enough time to film and also allow us time to deal with any problems we may face during the production and we wont have to rush allowing better quality work.

Back Up Location- Edgebarrow Woods Why?  This location provides a back-up incase of weather conditions effecting our film shooting.  Identically the same as main location  Protection from weather conditioning  Quiet conditions, meaning lack of disruption

 Here is a sample part of our script that we would be working off of if we were filming the whole duration of the film. Script Sample
